BOSTON (May 29, 2025) – Boston Senior Home Care (BSHC) is pleased to announce that it has awarded the Expanding Engagement grant from the City of Boston Age Strong Commission. This funding will expand social engagement programming for Supportive Housing residents.

Through this grant, BSHC will develop and provide a 16-week wellness series for older adults in four Supportive Housing Program sites in Boston. The series will focus on three interconnected health-related topics: mindfulness to promote mental wellness, laughter to reduce stress and build engagement among participants and movement for exercise and overall well-being.

Programming will be held at the following four locations:

  • West Broadway Apartments
  • Franklin Field Apartments
  • South Cove East Apartments
  • Pasciucco Apartments

These locations serve a combined total of over 924 older adults of diverse backgrounds and means.

By addressing the diverse needs of Boston’s Supportive Housing residents through adaptable, accessible programming, we aim to create sustainable improvements in quality of life, independence, and community connection. This evidence-based approach enhances individual well-being and strengthens community connections through shared activities that offer joy, laughter, and lasting health benefits.

Through their support of BSHC, the Age Strong Commission aspires to enhance the lives of Boston’s older adults through meaningful programs, resources, and connections to promote healthy aging.
